Two people were killed in a two-vehicle, head-on crash west of Blythe Sunday.
A wrong-way driver was reported around 6:30 a.m. Sunday driving in the westbound lanes of the Redlands (10) Freeway near mile marker 124, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.
The crash was reported shortly afterward, at around 6:35 a.m.
It was unknown how many occupants were traveling in each car, but two people were rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center and the Riverside County coroner’s office also responded to the scene, according to the incident log.
A CHP dispatcher confirmed that two people were killed, but it was unknown if they were drivers or passengers in the involved vehicles. Identifying information was not immediately available.
A Sigalert was issued near mile marker 129, and traffic was being diverted off the freeway. Both lanes of the freeway were reopened as of 10:40 a.m.
