A person was found dead Wednesday at the scene of a fire that broke out in an auxiliary dwelling on the property of a home in South Los Angeles.
The fire was reported at 9:51 a.m. Wednesday at a single-family home at 214 W. 105th St. in the Broadway-Manchester area, just east of the Harbor (110) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The first arriving crews reported flames coming from an ADU in the rear of the property.
“Following initial reports of persons trapped, LAFD firefighters prioritized a search for victims,” according to a department statement.
A victim whose age and gender were not immediately available was found inside and determined to be beyond help, a department spokesman said.
An arson investigation was launched, as is standard in fires involving fatalities.
