A free wellness program designed to provide support to socially isolated or older, vulnerable individuals will launch next month in Palm Springs.
PSPD Connect, a program helmed by the Palm Springs Police Department, will launch Oct. 19 to address social isolation and improve residents’ quality of life. Police said the program is a shared vision between Chief Kyle Stjerne, Councilwoman Grace Garner and the Blue Zones Project.
PSPD Connect functions by providing scheduled telephone calls from the department’s personnel or a volunteer to a participant. If the call is missed, an officer will follow an established process to check on the participant’s well-being, which may include notifying an emergency contact or authorizing a welfare check.
The program is voluntary and open to anyone wanting regular wellness contact, including older adults, homebound individuals or residents with limited local support.
Residents wishing to participate may contact the department at 760-323-8116 or pspdconnect@palmspringsca.gov.
