Kits to help Angelenos conserve water and energy will be delivered to 4,000 homes in Councilman Mitch O’Farrell’s 13th district over the coming weeks, part of a partnership between the city and a youth sports group.
The Water Watch kits include an LED light bulb and a low-flow showerhead and faucet aerator. Youth members of the Anahuak Youth Sports Association will be going door-to-door to deliver the kits, which together with stipends for the youth and training costs are funded through a $45,000 grant from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell is launching the kit giveaway effort during a walk through the Elysian Valley neighborhood on Saturday.
“We’re going to reach 4,000 households over the next couple of weeks for this program, and if we don’t hand deliver one to you, you can contact my office to come and pick up a kit yourself,” he said.
The kits will help residents “save on water, and it’s going to save on electricity, so I encourage everyone to take advantage of this wonderful resource,” O’Farrell said.
The 13th district includes parts of Elysian Valley, Glassell Park, Silver Lake, Atwater Village, Hollywood, East Hollywood, Koreatown, Rampart Village and Historic Filipinotown.
