A car slammed into a bedroom where two children were sleeping early Wednesday, but no one inside the La Puente home was injured and the driver later surrendered.
The driver initially fled from the scene of the crash, which occurred at 2:19 a.m. in the 500 block of Duff Avenue, according to a sergeant at the sheriff’s Industry Station.

He later turned himself in at the station, a watch commander said. The suspect’s name and age were not immediately available, but he is reportedly 18 years old.
The dark Mercedes-Benz sedan he was driving was pulled from the house, which sustained extensive damage.
