A stock broker from Mission Viejo was arrested for a DUI after his SUV ran a red light and broadsided a Costa Mesa Police car, authorities said Wednesday.

The crash happened at 11:30 p.m. Monday at Del Mar Avenue and Newport Boulevard, according to Costa Mesa Police Lt. Greg Scott.

The officers were westbound on Del Mar Avenue and the suspect in a Chevrolet Suburban was northbound on Newport Boulevard, Scott said. The suspect drove through a red light crashing into the patrol car.

One officer was taken to a hospital with a non-life threatening injury and was discharged Tuesday morning, the lieutenant said.

The suspect — identified as 66-year-old Leslie Lorrimer — was booked into the Orange County Jail for suspicion of felony DUI, Scott said.

Bail was set at $100,000 and Lorrimer was released on bail Tuesday.
