Firefighters Wednesday fought a stubborn fire that destroyed at least one store in an L-shaped strip mall in Koreatown, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The blaze at the Island Pacific Seafood Market at 229 S. Vermont Ave. was reported just after 1 a.m., fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

The department kept sending more and more firefighters to the scene, ending up dispatching 104 firefighters to battle the flames.

The fire burned for about an hour and 45 minutes before firefighters could knock it down, Humphrey said. The flames destroyed the seafood market but firefighters managed to protect 10 other stores in the strip mall.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
