Photos of detectives from the sheriff’s Carson Station recovering nearly $300,000 worth of stolen high-end meat were released Monday in hopes of finding the people who stole it.
The initial shipment which included beef steak, leg-of-lamb, rack-of- lamb and other expensive cuts was taken Tuesday from a cold storage facility in the 2000 bock of Imperial Street, southeast of downtown Los Angeles, near Vernon, according to Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The stolen meat had a wholesale value of $300,000 and belonged to Lamb Cooperative Inc., Navarro-Suarez said.
More than 1,531 cases of the stolen meat — 90 percent of what was reported stolen — were recovered. Detectives packed hundreds of cases and loaded them onto pallets by hand.
Anyone with information regarding the theft was asked to call Detective Jason Parolini at (310) 847-8371.
