The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose 1.5 cents Friday to $3.727, its highest amount since Aug. 21, 2015.
The average price has increased 11 consecutive days, rising 6.5 cents, including 1.1 cents on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 5.3 cents more than one week ago, 14.8 cents higher than one month ago and 72.5 cents greater than one year ago. It has risen 57.7 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price rose 1.3 cents Friday to $3.689, its highest amount since Aug. 21, 2015. It is 5.7 cents more than one week ago, 14.2 cents higher than one month ago and 69.9 cents greater than one year ago. It has risen 57.3 cents since the start of the year.
“Gasoline prices in Southern California continue a steady march upward which is typical for spring,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“We’ve seen some fluctuations on the wholesale market because of a refinery maintenance issue in Southern California. That, combined with oil prices increasing, seems to be enough to continue pushing prices up.”
