A man suffered a hand injury Friday in an apartment fire in Sun Valley that may have involved illegal fireworks, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to 11669 W. Valerio St., near Lankershim Boulevard, at about 6 p.m. Friday, where they found a fire that was quickly extinguished, according to the LAFD.

The approximately 30-year-old-man declined transport to a hospital, the department said.

The LAFD’s Jennifer Middleton told City News Service that firefighters heard fireworks inside the apartment but could not confirm they caused the fire.

It was not immediately clear if the fire caused significant damage to the building.
