A man shot dead Saturday while driving away from a bar fight in South Los Angeles was publicly identified.
Bryan Mendoza was 21 years old, according to Investigator Kristina McGuire with the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. His city of residence was not available.
Deputies, dispatched about 3:45 a.m. to a call of a fight at a bar on the corner of Graham and Florence avenues, were flagged down in the 7600 block of Graham Avenue while en route to the call and came upon what appeared to be a traffic crash on the street in front of Roosevelt Park, at 7600 Graham Ave., said Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Information Bureau.
They found the victim now identified as Mendoza inside the car unresponsive, suffering from one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Arteaga said.
The victim had left the scene of the original fight call, was driving southbound on Graham Avenue and was shot before crashing into a parked car, officials said.
There was no suspect description, and authorities said no weapon was recovered. It was unknown if the shooting was gang-related.
