California added 498,000 jobs between January 2014 and January 2015, leading the United States in total number of new positions, the federal government reported Tuesday.
The following five states created the most jobs:
- California — 498,000
- Texas — 392,900
- Florida — 274,100
- New York — 157,700
- Georgia — 131,900
As a percentage of population, Florida and Texas created slightly more jobs, but energy-rich Texas is now suffering from the impact of dramatically lower oil prices so its job growth has slowed.
