The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased slightly Tuesday for the fourth consecutive day, dropping two-tenths of a cent to $2.787.

The average price is a half-cent more than one week ago, but 15.8 cents less than one month ago and 23 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The lower monthly and weekly average prices are mainly the result of a 16.4-cent drop during a 22-day streak of decreases that ended Wednesday.

The average price dropped three-tenths of a cent on Monday and Saturday and a half-cent on Sunday, after rising three consecutive days.

The Orange County average price dropped slightly for the third time in four days, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $2.764.

The Orange County average price is 1.4 cents more than one week ago, but 14.9 cents less than one month ago and 21.6 cents lower than one year ago.

The lower monthly and weekly average prices are mainly the result of a 17.5-cent drop during a 26-day streak of decreases that ended Wednesday.

The Orange County average price was unchanged on Monday, dropped four- tenths of a cent on Saturday and three-tenths of a cent on Sunday after rising three consecutive days.
