A developer Thursday unveiled plans to build three high-rise residential towers in downtown Los Angeles near the L.A. Live entertainment complex and Staples Center.

The developer, City Century, filed the plans with the Los Angeles Department of City Planning on Wednesday.

The project, dubbed “Olympia,” is proposed for the junction of Olympic Boulevard and the Harbor Freeway in the South Park neighborhood.

The development would consist of 1,367 residential units, 40,000-square feet of retail and restaurant space, 2,131 parking spaces, and more than 115,000-square feet of open, green and public spaces.

“Olympia will add to South Park’s excitement, vibrancy and creativity,” City Century Executive Vice President Stuart Morkun said. “We’re at the beginning of the city of Los Angeles’ comprehensive public review and approval process. At the appropriate time, we look forward to discussing the project’s significant economic, cultural and environmental benefits, as well as Olympia’s defining contribution to Los Angeles’ iconic and evolving skyline.”

A parking lot and medical building now stand where the high-rises would be built, according to a project spokesman.

“Through smart planning and intentional design, Olympia will connect a creative community of residents to the culture and resources of Downtown Los Angeles,” Morkun said. “From its striking skyline presence to the transformation of the streetscape below, Olympia will be the pinnacle of Los Angeles living.”
