The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped three-tenths of a cent Friday to $2.871, the second consecutive decrease following a 20-day streak of rising prices.

The average price is 2.6 cents more than one week ago and 15.8 cents higher than one month ago, but 14.1 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The streak of increases ended Thursday with a decrease of one-tenth of a cent.

The Orange County average price dropped seven-tenths of a cent Friday to $2.861, 1.8 cents more than one week ago and 16.1 cents higher than one month ago, but 14.2 cents less than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped two-tenths of a cent Thursday and was unchanged on Wednesday after rising for 19 consecutive days.
