El Paseo will be closed Saturday for Swing ‘N Hops Street Party, a First Weekend event that will host live swing music, food trucks and craft beer vendors.
The street will be blocked off starting at midnight between San Pablo Avenue and Larkspur Lane for the Swing ‘N Hops Street Party, spokesman David Hermann said. The closure will continue until 8 p.m.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, such as Highway 111.
First Weekend is an umbrella term for events the city sponsors as an “innovative marketing tool to enhance offerings” to both residents and tourists, Hermann said. As the name indicates, the city hosts the chosen events every first weekend of the month from November through May. Swing ‘N Hops Street Party was rescheduled from Feb. 2 due to weather conditions.
Events on this year’s calendar range from a Desert X tour in April to Palm Desert Concerts in the Park in May, Hermann said.
