Nearly 1,000 elected officials and business leaders are expected to converge in Palm Desert for a conference organized by the Southern California Association of Governments, it was announced Wednesday.

The 55th Regional Conference and General Assembly is scheduled for May 6-8 at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa.

The event provides “unbeatable networking opportunities,” according to organizers, as well as space for collaborative discussions regarding issues affecting the entire region.

The event is free for elected officials and city managers in the region. Others can attend for $250 until March 30, then the price bumps up to $350.

Registration fees are non-refundable after March 30.
