A pre-dawn fire damaged five units in a commercial building in Costa Mesa Tuesday, but nobody was hurt.
The extra-alarm blaze began about 3:30 a.m. at 1515 MacArthur Blvd. in a single-story, 20-unit building that houses various businesses, including a woodworking operation, said Costa Mesa Fire Capt. Joseph Noceti.
The fire’s cause is under investigation, but investigators doubt it was related to any protests, he said.
The blaze torched three units, and two others sustained water and smoke damage, Noceti said.
More than 60 firefighters extinguished the flames in about 20 minutes, he said.
