Fire burned inside a commercial building in the Mid-Wilshire area Thursday morning, but was quickly extinguished by firefighters.

Crews responded to the building at 1050 S. Fairfax Ave., south of San Vicente Boulevard, at 5:05 a.m. and found smoke coming from the one-story building, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A total of 31 firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading into the attic and extinguished the blaze in 20 minutes, she said. A knockdown was called at 5:25 a.m.

The type of business that burned was not disclosed, but a number of Ethiopian restaurants and lounges are located near the address of the fire, including Little Ethiopia and Rosalind’s Ethiopian restaurants.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
