Republican Congressional Candidate Joe Collins says he has raised $3.1 million in his quest to defeat Democratic incumbent Maxine Waters.
Collins is a Black U.S. Navy veteran and South Los Angeles native running for California’s 43rd district.
Collins “has raised a staggering 1.9 million in this quarter alone, out-fundraising almost any candidate running for office,” said a statement from the Collins campaign. “Maxine Waters has only raised $1.1 million dollars throughout the entirety of her campaign,” it added in a statement that could not immediately be confirmed. “Small donors make up less than 4 percent of Waters’ campaign cash, while Insurance companies and PAC contributions comprise 96 percent of her fundraising. Conversely, Collins has taken in 100 percent of his campaign donations from small donors across the U.S. without receiving any donations from PACS or private companies.”
