The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose two-tenths of a cent Thursday to $3.208, one day after a six-day streak of increases totaling 1.9 cents ended with the price unchanged.
The average price is 1.6 cents more than a week ago and 7.5 cents higher than one month ago but 37.7 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has decreased 40.7 cents since the start of the year.
The Orange County average price dropped three-tenths of a cent to $3.192 after rising three-tenths for three consecutive days. It is 1.8 cents more than a week ago and 7.7 cents higher than one month ago but 37 cents less than one year ago. It has decreased 35.3 cents since the start of the year.
“Gas prices are staying in the same narrow band” which indicates “that there is more than sufficient stock to supply the market,” Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, told City News Service.
