To aid small businesses that are suffering financially because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Los Angeles Controller Ron Galperin Thursday unveiled a website with information on available government assistance.
The website is titled “Getting Main Street Back on Its Feet,” and is an interactive guide that organizes the different types of relief programs and funding available to business owners at the local, state and federal levels.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities, but Main Street America has been severely affected by the financial repercussions of COVID-19,” Galperin said. “My new online resource will help small business owners more easily understand what aid is still out there to help them stay afloat.”
In addition to information on government resources, “Getting Main Street Back on Its Feet” includes a section on the controller’s work to assist small businesses during COVID-19.
This section includes the COVID-19 Resources Hub, Small Business Emergency Microloan Tracker and recent reports on contracting equity that recommends steps to help small, minority-owned businesses work directly with the city of Los Angeles.
“With no new federal aid package in sight, I want to do what I can to help local businesses get the assistance they need to survive these incredibly challenging times,” Galperin said.
“Getting Main Street Back on Its Feet” can be found at lacontroller.org/smallbusinessguide.
The controller’s office also has more COVID-19 data stories and resource maps at lacontroller.org/resourcemaps.
