Carver Tract residents will have the opportunity to dispose of bulky household waste for free in Indio on Saturday, it was announced Wednesday.
Tires, furniture, appliances, bundled tree limbs and electronic waste are among the items that can be discarded during the collection event from 8 a.m. to noon at the parking lot of Van Buren Elementary School at 47-733 Van Buren St.
Carver Tract is an approximately 200-home neighborhood that is an unincorporated Riverside County area between the cities of Indio and Coachella.
Only nine tires are allowed per trip and residents will need to unload their waste from their vehicle.
The free event hosted by the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources is specified for Carver Tract residents only and only waste from households, not businesses, will be accepted.
Hazardous materials such as batteries, pool chemicals, brake fluids, paint and fluorescent light bulbs will not be accepted. Anyone who wishes to dispose of such hazardous waste can do so at the county facility in Palm Springs, at 1100 Vella Road, which is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
