A Riverside charity is holding a food and diaper drive through Monday to benefit local families in need.
JJO Charities is hoping to collect 10,000 pounds of food and 20,000 diapers to help those who are struggling because of loss of work, sickness and financial hardship amid the coronavirus pandemic.
To help support the effort, Units Moving and Portable Storage donated a large storage unit that is being used to house the donations outside the Canyon Crossings Walmart at 6250 Valley Springs Parkway.
“It’s my small way of helping this big problem in our area,” said Michelle Ratliff, the owner of storage company. “No family should go hungry. No baby should go without diapers. We can all help!”
Members of the public can drop off non-perishable food items, as well as diapers, baby wipes, baby formula and other baby supplies at the storage unit until 8 p.m. Sunday and between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday.
