The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Thursday to its lowest amount since Oct. 22, 2021, decreasing 2.2 cents to $4.543.
The average price has dropped 35 consecutive days, decreasing 98.8 cents, including 4.3 cents Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It has fallen 68 times in 71 days since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, decreasing $1.941.
The average price is 16.8 cents less than one week ago, 95 cents lower than one month ago and 13.6 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price dropped to its lowest amount since Oct. 14, 2021, decreasing 2.8 cents to $4.414, 16.3 cents less than one week ago, 97.3 cents lower than one month ago and 23.4 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price has dropped for 34 consecutive days, decreasing $1.022 cents, including 4.4 cents Wednesday. It has fallen 68 times in 71 days since rising to a record $6.357 on Oct. 5, decreasing $1.943.
The national average price dropped for the 36th consecutive day, falling 2.1 cents to $3.193, 13.6 cents less than one week ago, 56.6 cents lower than one month ago and 12.5 cents below what it was one year ago.
The national average price has dropped 61.3 cents over the past 36 days, including 3.1 cents Wednesday. It is $1.823 lower than the record $5.016 set June 14.
The lower prices are “saving Americans roughly $20 per fill-up compared to six months ago,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
