A sports car struck a tree on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Van Nuys Sunday evening, trapping the critically injured driver.
The crash was reported at 6:36 p.m. on the southbound San Diego Freeway at Burbank Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. A witness told the California Highway Patrol the car went off the road into a right shoulder brush area.
Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free the injured driver from the vehicle and paramedics took the driver to a trauma center in critical condition, the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange said.
An officer at the scene called for 20 feet of cable to recover a Porsche GT that was up an embankment and in a tree.
