A three-vehicle traffic collision involving a semi-truck caused roughly 90 gallons of diesel fuel to spill onto the Pomona (60) Freeway east of the Long Beach (710) Freeway Wednesday, prompting a closure of all eastbound lanes and creating a nightmarish backup during the evening rush hour.

Fire crews responded to the westbound 60 around 3 p.m. on a report of a traffic collision involving two vehicles and a semi-truck, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Crews were able to quickly halt the fuel spill, but the cleanup effort forced a closure of all westbound lanes that continued for more than two hours, creating a miles-long backup.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries stemming from the crash. It was unclear when all traffic lanes would be reopened.
