Firefighters Monday quickly contained a rubbish fire involving abandoned vehicles in Desert Hot Springs.
Crews responded at 8:04 a.m. Monday to a report of a refuse fire in the area of Beacon Way and Palm Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
By 9:08 a.m., firefighters were able to contain the fire and were expected to remain on the scene for two additional hours performing mop up.
A roughly 5,600-square-foot area was burnt, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
