A brush fire broke out Wednesday in Good Hope, consuming roughly 10 acres in less than an hour and threatening several homes, prompting an evacuation warning.
The “Post Fire” was reported at 3:53 p.m. in the area of Post Road and Gardenias Street, about two miles west of the Perris Raceway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Multiple engine and hand crews were sent to the location, encountering flames moving at a moderate rate amid heavy dry brush.
Four Cal Fire air tankers and two water-dropping helicopters initiated runs on the brusher at 4:30 p.m.
One firefighter suffered an undisclosed minor injury and required treatment at the scene, but it was unclear whether he would need additional care.
An evacuation warning was issued for properties in the lightly populated area south of Santa Rosa Mine Road, north of Gardenias, west of Post and east of Christmas Tree Lane, according to reports from the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies were summoned to shut down Post between Gardenias and Santa Rosa Mine for public safety.
There were no reports of structures damaged or destroyed as of 4:50 p.m.
