One person was killed Saturday when a car crashed into a utility pole, overturned and caught fire in the Redman community near Lancaster.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 1:09 p.m. Saturday at East Avenue E and 90th Street East.
A witness told the CHP a gray Lexus sedan struck a utility pole, knocking it down, exposing wires and catching fire.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP reported. There was no indication of injured patients.
Avenue E was shut down in both directions from 70th to 90th streets East.
