Four communities in the Brea area near Carbon Canyon Regional Park were given evacuation warnings Saturday after a brush fire broke out and quickly grew to 40 acres.
The fire was reported at 1:37 p.m. Saturday in the area of Carbon Canyon Road and Olinda Place, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. That prompted warnings that residents of Olinda Village and Hollydale Mobile Home Estates should prepare to evacuate.
Firefighters attacked the fire from the air and ground, officials said.
At about 3:25 p.m., officials said the blaze had grown to about 40 acres and additional evacuation warnings were issued for El Rodeo Stables and Brea Hills.
Carbon Canyon Road was closed between Brea Hills and Ruby Drive, they said. Only residents of the affected communities were being permitted to drive east on Carbon Canyon Road.
