Audacy Wednesday unveiled the weekday lineup for its FM sports station on 97.1, which will replace the KNX News simulcast in the Los Angeles market.
The station, branded as 97.1 The Fan, is set to launch May 18, ending the FM simulcast of KNX News, which will continue on AM 1070 and digital platforms.
The sports outlet will feature programming anchored by former professional athletes, broadcasters and media personalities, marking Audacy’s push into a market long dominated by AM sports radio.
Morning programming from 6 to 10 a.m. will feature “Derek & Decker,” hosted by former Lakers guard Derek Fisher and former professional baseball player Cody Decker.
Midday coverage from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will showcase “Brock & Alex,” with former NFL safety Brock Vereen and broadcaster Alex Curry.
Afternoon drive time from 2 to 6 p.m. will be led by “D-Mac & Reiter,” pairing sports media personality Doug McKain with CBS Sports columnist and radio host Bill Reiter.
“Los Angeles is a sports powerhouse with a deep connection between teams, fans, and culture, and this new lineup brings together championship-level personalities, veteran player perspective, and sharp analytical expertise,” Andrew Williams, brand manager of 97.1 The Fan, said in a statement. “We’re building a full-scale, live and local LA sports network that brings sports to the FM dial and across multiple platforms to meet our audiences where they are.”
Audacy announced last month that it would end KNX News’ FM simulcast on 97.1.
Company officials said the sports station will focus on local teams and storylines, with content also distributed across digital platforms and social media.
Audacy acquired KNX in 2017 as part of its merger with CBS Corp.’s radio division.
