Pasadena Humane will hold its fifth annual Day of Giving Tuesday, with a fundraising campaign aimed at supporting animal care programs and emergency veterinary services.
Donations made before midnight Tuesday will be quadruple matched up to $100,000 through a contribution from the Denne Trust, potentially raising as much as $400,000 for the shelter’s operations, according to officials.
The campaign is highlighting the work of the shelter’s animal intensive care unit, including the recovery of a dog named Timmy that was treated for severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle.
The 4-pound dog suffered broken ribs, puncture wounds and a spinal injury that left him unable to use his hind legs, officials said. After weeks of treatment that included surgery, medication and physical therapy, the dog recovered and was later adopted.
“The generosity of our community makes it possible for us to care for animals in need,” Chris Ramon, Pasadena Humane’s president & CEO, said in a statement. “Day of Giving donations, combined with this donor match, will help us save more animals like Timmy.”
Officials said funds raised will also support foster care, wildlife rehabilitation, pet adoptions and low-cost services such as vaccinations, spay and neuter procedures and microchipping.

Pasadena Humane, founded in 1903, provides care and services for tens of thousands of animals each year in the Greater Los Angeles area.
