A woman was killed on the Escondido (215) Freeway in the Riverside area Sunday after a solo-vehicle crash.
The crash was reported at 2:10 p.m. Sunday at the 215 and Moreno Valley (60) Freeway interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol. A Sigalert was issued, shutting down the southbound lanes of the 215 at the interchange.
Reporting parties told officers the vehicle flew over the center divider and overturned several times.
It was unknown how many occupants were in the vehicle, but the person who died was a woman, according to the CHP. It was not immediately clear if she was the driver of the vehicle or a passenger, and uncertain if she was buckled in.
It was also unknown whether speed or intoxicants played a role in the crash. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
The CHP did not immediately indicate whether anyone else was hurt in the wreck.
