A recuse operation was underway Sunday after a hiker fell and experienced a medical emergency in a remote trail area in Pine Wood.
Rescuers responded to an area near the Boulder Basin Campground and Black Mountain Peak, off the Black Mountain Truck Trail, at 9:05 a.m. Sunday after a report of a fallen hiker with a medical emergency, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Crews were working to access the hiker with hoist assistance form Cal Fire Helicopter 601. An air ambulance was requested to transport the hiker to a hospital.
The extent of the hiker’s injuries was unknown.
