Former Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will be honored Wednesday by Inner City Law Center during the nonprofit’s annual awards luncheon recognizing advocacy and legal work aimed at combating homelessness in Los Angeles.

The event, scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, is expected to draw hundreds of legal, business and civic leaders in support of the nonprofit poverty law firm’s work in Skid Row and across Los Angeles County, according to organizers.

Emhoff, a lawyer, educator and former Second Gentleman of the United States, will receive the organization’s 2026 Humanitarian Award for what Inner City Law Center described as his commitment to public service and legal advocacy.

“Each year, the Humanitarian Award is presented to individuals or entities who have demonstrated a remarkable commitment to the underprivileged residents of Los Angeles,” organizers said in a statement.

The luncheon also will feature appearances by Inner City Law Center clients and a musical performance by the Urban Voices Project, a Skid Row-based choir composed of artists, performers and advocates.

King & Spalding will receive the 2026 Katharine Krause Award recognizing pro bono legal work performed on behalf of the organization’s clients and communities.

Founded in 1980, Inner City Law Center provides free legal services to low-income residents facing issues including eviction, landlord harassment, unsafe housing conditions and access to veterans or disability benefits. The organization says it is the only legal aid group headquartered in Skid Row.
