A pickup truck driver was killed Friday in a freeway crash with a big rig in Pico Rivera.
The fatal wreck was reported about 2:20 a.m. on the northbound side of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway near Beverly Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man who was driving the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.
Video shot at the scene showed the stopped big rig and a badly smashed Chevrolet that ended up on its side.
The collision and response closed all northbound freeway lanes, with traffic diverted onto Beverly and a SigAlert was issued.
One lane was soon reopened and all lanes were cleared and the SigAlert canceled about 6 a.m., a CHP officer said.
