Actress Linda Blair’s Los Angeles County home, which doubles as an animal rescue, was searched by dozens of investigators to ensure that she’s complying with regulations, it was reported Saturday.
The search took place Friday, and did not result in any seizure of animals, according to multiple reports.
Blair addressed the incident on Instagram.
“Checking in I’m good. The animals are good in lieu of our surprise visit in 105-degree heat! With as busy as we all are in animal rescue and saving lives from the hot deserts and abandoned animals and shelters, everyone’s emails and social media are overloaded!” she wrote Friday.
“Turns out we just have some paperwork to do and some diagrams but as everybody knows, I’m looking to move so I can be more educational and help more animals. I’d rather move forward. And I always say you know a good old-fashioned letter of contact always works. Be safe, safe lives support animal rescue cause we’re all fighting to save lives.”
According to TMZ, Blair was home during the early-morning visit, which involved personnel from Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control, the county’s zoning and building and safety departments, and the District Attorney’s Office. They were there not as part of a criminal investigation, but mainly to ensure Blair was not exceeding the number of animals she was permitted to have on the property, and to ensure they were being properly cared for, according to TMZ and other reports.
Officials with the county animal control department and the DA’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment Saturday.
The “Exorcist” star, 67, founded the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and abused, neglected and abandoned animals. She has lobbied for years on behalf of so-called “bully breed” dogs, such as pit bulls. More information can be found at lindablairworldheart.org/.
