A tanker with up to 85,000 pounds of fuel on board and a sedan collided Friday in the unincorporated Agua Dulce area of Los Angeles County, shutting down all but one northbound lane of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway with a potential to disrupt morning traffic.
The crash was reported at 3:19 a.m. on the northbound Antelope Valley Freeway just south of Escondido Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The sedan reportedly came to rest against the big rig, and the truck had a broken rear axle, the CHP said. Oil spilled across lane Nos. 2, 3 and 4.
The drivers got out of both vehicles and were located on the right shoulder, the CHP said. At least one declined to be taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries.
Officers at the scene requested absorbent to clear a 100-foot slick on the roadway.
The CHP issued a SigAlert at 3:42 a.m. shutting down northbound lanes Nos. 2, 3 and 4 for about three hours while the tanker and sedan were towed away and the oil was cleared from lanes.
All lanes were reopened at 9:48 a.m., according to the CHP.
