Firefighters Saturday battled a brush fire that burned over one acre of vegetation in Corona.

The fire was reported at 9:42 a.m. Saturday in the area of Eagle Canyon and Copper roads, northwest of Lake Mathews, according to the nonprofit wildfire-information service Watch Duty, and was mapped at 1.39 acres.

Responding firefighters found the fire burning at a slow rate of spread in grass and light brush, and the forward progress was stopped around 10:15 a.m.

Firefighters reached 100% containment of the fire around 12:30 p.m.

No injuries were immediately reported, and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
