A dump truck struck power lines in Desert Hot Springs Friday, causing multiple poles to topple and knocking out power to 85 Southern California Edison customers.
The crash was reported shortly after 1 p.m. Friday at 13311 United Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officer David Torres said a dump truck traveling at an unspecified rate of speed had the “dump portion in an upright position and it collided into power lines.”
The driver, whose name was not revealed, did not sustain any injuries. Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The collision impacted 85 Southern California Edison customers in the area of United Road, south of Kranshire Road, according to the agency’s website.
An estimated restoration time was not immediately known.
