A 29-year-old man was arrested Friday after abandoning a stolen high-powered vehicle and the woman who was inside, police said.

The Nissan 350Z was reported stolen from San Diego six days ago and observed by officers near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and North Alvarado Street around 1:10 a.m., said Los Angeles police Sgt. Melvin Gamble

The ensuing pursuit lasted barely a minute, Gamble said, ending near West Temple Street with the suspect appearing to have difficulty operating the car’s manual transmission.

The suspect was found about 25 minutes later, hiding in an alley off West Temple, Gamble said.

The 24-year-old woman in the car was left in the vehicle and was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant, he said.

The suspect was booked on suspicion of felony evasion, and a charge of vehicle theft was also expected, Gamble said.
