A rubbish fire Monday afternoon prompted closure of a transition road from southbound Sepulveda Boulevard to westbound Imperial Highway south of Los Angeles International Airport.
The fire was reported at 1:25 p.m. in the median area of the 6300 block of Imperial Highway, said Shawn Lenske of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters extinguished the flames in about 35 minutes. The fire was initially reported to have been burning in brush, but Lenske said it turned out to be trash in the median and a “small amount of vegetation.”
