Criminal charges were filed Tuesday against a San Dimas man who allegedly slashed a childhood friend in the face with a knife during a fight.
Matthew David Anderson, 26, is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 23 at the Pomona Courthouse on one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem, along with a misdemeanor count of battery.
Anderson is accused of arming himself with a knife and slashing the man’s face about 11:20 a.m. Saturday. He also allegedly attacked his friend’s female partner.
Anderson surrendered early that afternoon after negotiating with a sheriff’s sergeant. He has remained in jail since then.
If convicted as charged, Anderson faces up to 13 years in state prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
