A man was killed early Sunday morning while walking on the right side of the Hollywood (101) Freeway downtown, the California Highway Patrol said.

The victim was described as a 25-year-old man who was a resident of Colorado, according to a news statement from the CHP.

The crash occurred at 2 a.m. on the southbound Hollywood Freeway north of Beaudry Avenue, according to the CHP.

Witnesses told the CHP the man was walking against traffic on the right shoulder, was struck by a black Honda Accord, then was seen walking against traffic on the right shoulder bleeding from his head, according to information on the CHP’s website.

The man was then struck multiple times, it was reported.

Los Angeles County firefighters pronounced the man dead on the scene. His body was found in the far right lane, the CHP said.

Traffic on the southbound Hollywood Freeway at north Beaudry Avenue was shutdown and the north and south transition roads to the Harbor (110) Freeway were closed until 4:20 a.m., said CHP Officer Pete Bishop.
