A 20-inch water main that was installed in 1922 burst Friday in the Wilmington area, leaving 41 customers without service and buckling a street.
The problem was reported about 5:30 a.m. at Anaheim Street and Figueroa Place, said Carol Tucker of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
Crews worked to repair the main, a task that was expected to take until at least this afternoon, Tucker said. Traffic was routed away from the area.
