Police continued to search on Saturday for an 18-year-old high school student who went missing after leaving her campus in Tujunga earlier this week.

Lena Donabedian was last seen about 2 p.m. Monday leaving Verdugo Hills High School in the 10600 block of Plainview Avenue and getting into a light- colored, four-door sedan with two males inside, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Her mother Sosi said her daughter has never run away, hardly ever goes out with friends and is usually at home with family after school and on weekends.

Family friend Michael DeWitte explained that Donabedian recently met a guy on Instagram and described him to friends as her boyfriend. He is believed to have been a passenger in the vehicle in which Donabedian was picked up, DeWitte said. She did not have a cell phone with her, he said.

Donabedian is 5 feet 2 inches tall, about 135 pounds with brown hair and eyes and was wearing khaki-colored pants.

Her family is concerned for her welfare, and anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is urged to contact the LAPD Missing Persons Unit detective handling her case at (213) 996-1800. After-hours calls can be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7 and anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
