A civilian employee of the Los Angeles Police Department was arrested for allegedly participating in a bail-solicitation scheme, authorities said Wednesday.
Leonard Ramirez, 42, a civilian detention officer assigned to the Van Nuys jail, is accused of collaborating with bail agents and receiving compensation for providing inmate information, police said.
Ramirez was arrested Monday on suspicion of accepting bribes, and was released Tuesday. The case was being forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges.
