Police responding to a call about a runaway girl in Long Beach on Friday fatally shot a man inside a house.
Officers were sent to the 2300 block of Eucalyptus Avenue about 8:10 a.m. “regarding an ‘assist the citizen’ call involving a runaway juvenile,” said Marlene Arrona of the Long Beach Police Department.
“During the course of the investigation, an officer-involved shooting occurred,” she said. “The female juvenile runaway is safe and (is) being interviewed. Investigators believe there is a valid restraining order against the suspect.”
A knife was recovered at the scene, Arrona said.
Authorities withheld the name of the man pending notification of his relatives.
