A murder charge was filed Wednesday against a 26-year-old felon accused in the stabbing death of a female acquaintance in a Pomona motel room.
Alexander Anthony Clever of Pomona is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 8 at the Pomona courthouse in connection with the killing of Yvette Silva.
The 35-year-old Upland woman, who had a 12-year-old son, was found dead inside a bathroom in a room at a Motel 6 at 2470 S. Garey Ave. after police responded at 8:40 p.m. Saturday to a disturbance call.
Authorities did not immediately determine a motive for the killing.
Police described Clever as an acquaintance of the victim, and said he had recently been released from prison and was on post-release community supervision.
Clever was arrested Monday by a multi-agency task force as he rode his bicycle away from his parents’ home in the Phillips Ranch community of Pomona.
The criminal complaint alleges that Clever was previously convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in 2006, possession of a firearm by a felon in 2009 and carrying a dirk or dagger in 2011.
If convicted as charged, he faces up to 57 years to life in state prison.
